Outreach Project

‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’ (Mark 16:15)

(….. the road to Paraniputhur)

The church has been a mission oriented church since the day it was established in 1829. Over the years, the church has been extremely supportive of mission and mission related activities. The outreach work at Manapakkam initiated by the church in the late 1980’s, blossomed and paved a way for the establishment of a church at Manapakkam called the Manapakkam Wesley Church which has become a mature Tamil congregation. It is now under the direct control of the Diocese since 2008. The church identified a village at Athomanam in 2004 through the efforts of the then associate Pastor, Rev. Florence Lawrence. In the year 2008, the church at Athimanam was built and dedicated to the glory of God. In the year 2009, evangelist Rajendran who was instrumental in developing the congregation at Manapakkam, through the encouragement and guidance of Pastor Rev. Leonard Baskar Samuel, and the Wesley Pastorate, did a detailed study of establishing a congregation at Paraniputhur, about 10 kilometres away from the church. The Pastorate decided to adopt Paraniputhur as a mission field and the labour of love to reach out to these people started in all earnestness. Believers from all the pastorate churches started participating in outreach activities. Evangelist Bro. Rajendran under the guidance of our Pastor Rev. Leonard Baskar Samuel is steadily establishing the congregation. Having bought a piece of land, the immediate task is to build a place of worship. Let us all pray that our good Lord would open doors for the project to be implemented soon.
