THE REV. PETER COCHRAN MEMORIAL SCRIPTURE EXAMINATION
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119 : 11)
The Rev. Peter Cochran Memorial Scripture Examination was instituted by the Church in remembrance of the late Rev. Peter Cochran who was a pastor of the Church. The scripture examination is held for children between 8 and 16 years, and is conducted by this church. The aim of the examination is to encourage children to study the Bible diligently and memorize Scriptures as this would greatly enable them to walk in His ways all the days of their lives and be a blessing.
Participants are divided into 4 groups, viz. seniors, intermediates, juniors and primary according to their age. Individual cups and certificates for the top three in each group and participation certificates are awarded. A rolling cup is also awarded to the Churches or institutions which get the highest score through their prize winners.
Most of the reputed city schools participate in this examination which is usually held in CSI Ewart Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Egmore, Chennai 600 008, India.
The examination is held usually on a Sunday in November.
