Church Picnic

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! ……. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life for evermore. (Psalm 133:1-3)

The church outing or the picnic is a much awaited annual event wherein church worshippers go on a day’s outing. Each participant contributes a certain sum to offset the cost of the picnic which includes transportation, snacks and food. It is a time of great fun and fellowship. With the ever increasing size of the congregation, there is a need to take time off to get to know each other better. It is truly a spiritually refreshing time.

A testimony of the church outing by Sister Macqueen in September 1979 `

“A good time was had by all” is surely the verdict of each of the 59 who joined the party on August 15th. We were all aged from one year old to sixty one and of various nationalities such a happy singing group that the headmistress of the Government High School at Red Hills (where a room had been arranged for our breakfast) asked us to sing two songs to the children assembled for flag hoisting. Then on to Pulicat and the conveniences of the MCC Research Centre for lunch and plenty of fun on the back waters and beach. The last stop was for tiffin, singing and evening prayers as the sun went down at Ennore. Back here at 8 p.m. – already talking about when we can have another outing !
